uCan we use the Literasi Bahasa Inggeris (LBI) Pupils Module Book 1?

Answer

Yes, you are encouraged to use the module as a practice book before the screening. After the screening the module should be used for the Linus pupils.

Some schools have combined classes due to absent of teachers because of illness, retirement and redeployment. Teachers have difficulties in administering the screening because they are confused whether they need to assess their own pupils or to include the combined classes’ pupils?
Answer

It is the responsibility of the teachers to assess all the pupils in a particular class regardless whether it is a combined class or not.

Do we need to include the screening in our daily lesson plan or do we need to write it separately?

Answer

Yes you need to include the screening in your lesson plan because this is how we know that teachers had administered the screening in the lesson. Before the screening it is important that teachers carry out the lesson first.

Do we need to repeat the screening until the pupils able to master the constructs?

Answer
The answer is twofold,

Screening for reading, teachers may repeat the screening twice provided the teacher must repeat the lesson,

Screening for writing, teachers must do the screening only once hence teachers must ensure their pupils are able to write well before administer the screening.

Does the screening must be conducted by optionist?

Answer


Yes, the screening must be conducted by optionist however if a school does not have any optionist it is up to the administrator to appoint the most qualified teacher to conduct the screening.

The constructs are too difficult for pupils to answer.

Answer

The constructs have been formulated by the Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia. The constructs have been tested over 100 schools and approved by the Examination Board. The constructs are specially designed to evaluate all necessary skills at all level.

How to assess pupils who are not able to achieve any of the constructs?

    Answer

Assess pupils continuously even he/she couldn’t achieved any of the construct. Drill the pupils with similar subject matter and teachers may use the Module Book 1 for exercises.
